AYPT Discussion Board
Since March 2007 an official AYPT Discussion Board is provided. This section describes some basic rules and guidelines for this board and also explains the whole purpose of the board. Furthermore some basic help for board-newcomers is given.
Information and Help for Board-Newcomers
The AYPT Discussion Board uses the widespread software phpBB. For a detailed documentation of features please refer to the phpBB website.
Basically a board is a collection of so-called "posts" or "postings" which are
(thematically) grouped in so-called "threads". These threads are then grouped in
different "forums" with different topics.
At the moment there are two forums which are accessible by the public:
- "Allgemeines": This forum is for general discussion about the AYPT in German language.
- English Discussion: This forum is for general discussion about the AYPT in English language.
Furthermore there is a forum for internal discussion within the
association. Only legal members of the association
have access to this forum.
Newly registered members should contact the administrator to gain access.
This can be done via email or via
a private message within the forum (addressed to user "georghofferek").
With increasing number of users and posts additional forums might be added to keep a clear view. Proposals can be emailed to webmaster@aypt.at.
Read Posts
To read posts in the forum one must first go to the main page of the forum (http://forum.aypt.at/). Then one should click on one of the subforums. A list of threads within this forum is displayed. By clicking on a thread one is able to read the posts within this thread. They may be seperated into more than one page.
Post Messages
Only registered users can post messages. To register as a user click the "Register" link on the top of the main page. Then follow the instructions provided.
A valid email address must be entered during the registration process. A confirmation link will be sent to this address. You must click this link to confirm and activate your user account so make sure you choose an address to which you have access.
Futhermore due to problems with spam it has been necessary to let administrators check new user accounts before they become active. If you have registered for the board and have not been activated for a few days, or if your account has been accidentially deleted, please contact webmaster@aypt.at.
Language
The board is displayed in English language for anonymous users. After registration each user may choose to display the board either in English or in German language.
Protected Areas for Groups
We offer the possibility that a group gets access to a private subsection of the forum.
This group does not necessarily have to be a real team participating in the AYPT.
A group leader has to be named, who will manage which users get read- and write-access
to the private area.
In order to request such a group or if you have questions please contact the
webmaster.
Further Help
For further help please contact the webmaster.
Rules and Guidelines
Use of the board is subject to some rules and guidelines.
The following rules must be adhered to by all users:
- Each user is responsible for the messages they post.
- Users are expected to behave politely and respectfully. The general rules of the Netiquette must be adhered to.
- Vulgar and obscene language, displeasing comments, illegal pronouncements, spamming, etc. will not be tolerated.
- The administrators reserve the right to delete posts and/or to lock out users without warning if these rules are violated.
- The IP addresses of users are recorded whenever posting a message. In case of serious violations of these terms of use the administrators reserve the right to launch a complain to the internet service provider of a user and/or to make a report to the responsible police office.
Furthermore we kindly ask to comply with the following guidelines:
- We encourage all users to use ther real name (or a similar name) as their username.
-
The fields "first name" and "last name" in the profile should be filled in.
In case someone absolutely wants to stay anonymous "-" can be entered.
We, however, would be glad if our users were identifiable.
The usage of false names is forbidden and leads to deletion of the user. - Further information in the profile is provided voluntarily.
- We kindly ask to post messages to thematically adequat threads to keep the forum clear. Administrators reserve the right to move messages if necessary.
Whole Purpose of the Board
There were different reasons for which the board has been set up:
- In addition to the newsletter it provides a possibility to announce important news.
- Participants, ex-participants and future participants as well as all other persons interested in the AYPT should be given a platform for communication; for discussion concrete questions and issues connected with the AYPT or just for staying in contact after the tournament.
- A protected (non-public) subforum is intended for internal communication within the association. Through this all legal members shall be given more opportunities to take part in shaping the future of the AYPT.
- Furthermore the board is used for archiving AYPT related material.
Suggestions and Criticism
The AYPT Discussion Board is still in its infancy. Suggestions and criticism are more than welcome. The best place to express them is in form of an adequate thread within the board itself.
